The PCRB has issued an updated Medical Data Call Implementation Guide to include some clarifying language and additional examples. The updated guide replaces the prior January 6, 2009 release and continues to include the reporting layout, general rules, participation requirements, business exclusions, reporting frequencies and responsibilities, edit strategy and other essential information.

Additionally, a Medical Data Call Edit Matrix has been added to the website and is available for download. This matrix contains details on the edits that will be performed by the Bureau.

A new application (View Authorized Classes) has been added to the Bureau website which provides a more streamlined method for checking authorized classifications. The search parameter can be either the Bureau File Number or the Employer Name. Once the risk is indentified, a click on the name will take you to a screen which will provide the user with the ability to “View Bureau History/Authorized Classes.”

PENNSYLVANIA CONSTRUCTION CLASSIFICATION PREMIUM ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM UPDATE

The Insurance Commissioner has approved Manual revisions to Section 1, Rule IX, H. Pennsylvania Construction Classification Premium Adjustment Program (PCCPAP). These revisions are effective12:01 a.m., October 1, 2009 with respect to new and renewal business only. For more detail refer to Bureau Circular No. 1563.

Effective on a new and renewal basis as of 12:01 a.m., April 1, 2009, the Insurance Commissioner has approved revised loss costs and related rating values for Classification Codes 809, Fuel Distribution, and 992, Sanitary Company. For more detail refer to Bureau Circular No. 1562.

BUREAU FILINGS AND THE PENNSYLVANIA WORKERS COMPENSATION PRICING SYSTEM

This circular will update information on the background and historical parameters of the Pennsylvania workers compensation pricing system, originally presented in Bureau Circular No. 1419 and last updated in Bureau Circular No. 1547. Please refer to Bureau Circular No. 1561 for more detail.

EFFECTIVE APRIL 1, 2009 LOSS COST REVISION AMENDMENT AND APPROVAL

The Insurance Commissioner has approved revised loss costs and related rating values effective on a new and renewal basis as of 12:01 a.m., April 1, 2009. The Insurance Department has approved an amended filing requesting an overall average decrease of 3.00 percent in loss costs. For more detail refer to Bureau Circular No. 1560.

APPROVAL OF F-CLASSIFICATION AND USL&HW RATING VALUES

The Pennsylvania Insurance Department has approved an overall rate increase of 9.73 percent, effective April 1, 2009 on a new and renewal basis, for manual rates and related rating values for Pennsylvania F-Classifications. For more detail refer to Bureau Circular No. 1557.
